Former Manhattan High principal Terry McCarty this week resigned from a new superintendent job after the district learned his last employer was suing him for stealing money.

McCarty, who left Manhattan in 2013, was hired in January as superintendent at USD 457 Garden City. He was to start July 1.

However, district officials became aware of a lawsuit filed Feb. 28 by McCarty’s most recent employer, the Perry, Oklahoma, school district.
