Our first Hometown Hero is John Ranum!
From the nominating letter for John:
John is retired Army. He had 5 deployments and 3 overseas assignments. He and his wife June are tireless volunteers in the community. John helps International students at Kansas State University adjust to life in Manhattan. John provides transportation, helps with obtaining furniture, and a variety of other tasks to ensure that International Students make the transition to living here. In addition, John and June host weekly meals for International Students and take them to community events to help these students make America a second home. John and June are a great benefit to our City!
John receives tickets to K-State football, plus a free oil change from Kia of Manhattan, a $50 gift card to RC McGraws, and a Hometown Heroes T-Shirt! John is also qualified to win the grand prize from Robert’s Heating and Cooling: a full Furnace and AC replacement!
