A 13-year-old Junction City Middle School student was arrested Monday after a threat was made, according to a press release from the Junction Police Department Tuesday night.

The JCPD says it was made aware of the threat Monday and detectives and the school resource officer immediately began investigating the situation. The student was arrested at 10:19 that night on charges of criminal threat.

The student was turned over to Juvenile Intake and made his first appearance in Geary County District Court Tuesday. Police say the parents of the juvenile have been very cooperative during this investigation. The JCPD says its presence at the middle school Tuesday morning was not to alarm anyone, but to let students and staff know it takes their safety seriously.

The JCPD encourages anyone that if they ever hear or see anything suspicious to please call the department or leave a tip via its Geary County Crime Stoppers Website.
