MCA NashvilleJosh Turner could take home three GMA Dove Awards this fall, for his I Serve a Savior gospel album.

The South Carolina native is up for both Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year for “How Great Thou Art” and Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song for his version of the Hank Williams classic “I Saw the Light.”

The record itself is competing for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year as well.

Meanwhile, Country Music Hall of Famer Ricky Skaggs is giving Josh some competition in the Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song category. He’s nominated for his contribution to Contemporary Christian icon Steven Curtis Chapman’s re-recording of “Dive.”

This is the 50th year for the Dove Awards, which are given out by the Gospel Music Association and considered to be the Christian equivalent of the Grammys.

The 2019 awards will be handed out Tuesday, October 15 at Allen Arena on the campus of Nashville’s Lipscomb University. They’ll air the following Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on TBN.
