A man was found guilty Thursday of aggravated battery and failure to stop at the scene of an accident that severely injured a Manhattan woman a year ago.
The Manhattan Mercury reports 22-year-old Nicolas Blaha of Platte City, Missouri was convicted for hitting Amber Wilhelm,with his truck just before 2 a.m. on April 14, 2017, near the intersection of 12th Street and Bluemont Avenue. Police say she was using the crosswalk.
After two full days of hearing the evidence, jurors began deliberation around 10:30 a.m. Thursday and delivered a verdict at 3 p.m.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 13 at 10 a.m. Blaha will remain on bond.
