TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced delays for two categories of road projects scheduled for 2017 and 2018.
State Budget Director, Shawn Sullivan outlined the changes Wednesday.
Previously-programmed modernization and expansion projects are being delayed until remaining State Highway Fund revenues allow for them or new money becomes available.
2017 delays will include ten projects with an estimated construction cost of $273.5 million; 2018 will see 15 projects delayed with a cost of $279.2 million.
Kansas Transportation Secretary, Mike King said, “Despite the delays, the overall good condition of the 10,000 mile state highway system won’t be impacted.”
Local projects being impacted include an intersection reconstruction project along US-77 and Old Milford Road in Junction City along with a widening and reconstruction project from the Morris-Geary County line north to I-70.
