A Fort Riley soldier has been sentenced to 10 life sentences with lifetime post release supervision and electronic monitoring for sex-related crimes in Geary County. James Henning was sentenced Thursday on the 10 convictions, which included two counts of aggravated indecent liberties, three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, four counts of sexual exploitation of a child, and one count of rape.
According to Assistant Geary County Attorney Michelle Brown, two of the 10 sentences were ordered to run consecutively so Henning won’t be eligible for parole for 50 years. Henning requested a departure to 155 months from the presumptive sentence of life due to his military career and as a police officer, but the court did not grant him the departure.
As KMAN reported earlier, the case involved an eight year old girl related to Henning. Henning was arrested in Junction City at his East 12th Street residence in November of 2014.
