Litlte Big Town via InstagramLittle Big Town is almost finished with the follow-up to their platinum-selling album, Tornado. The first single should hit the airwaves in a month or two. The band’s Kimberly Schlapman says fans can expect a little bit of an evolution from their last record.

She tells ABC News Radio, “We don’t want to make the same record twice. But the songs that we wrote and were afforded this time from our songwriter friends, they’ve just blown us away. We had so many incredible songs to pick from.”

LBT has recorded the new album in an old church in East Nashville that’s been converted into a recording studio. The main tracking room is the old sanctuary, and the recording console is located on what used to be the pulpit.

Kimberly explains, “It’s just this huge room with the tall ceilings and a big cross hanging in the front. It’s like a church like I grew up in — a little Baptist church.”

She adds, “I love it. It feels warm and the sound is amazing in there.”

Look for Little Big Town to sing some of those new songs at the CMA Music Festival this June in Nashville.
