If you’re staying in Manhattan for Memorial Day weekend there are plenty of activities in the area.

Saturday events include:

* The Bill Snyder Highway Half Marathon and 5K, starting at 7 a.m. at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. That’s followed by the Manhattan Farmer’s Market from 8 am until 1 pm at 3rd at Leavenworth Streets. The MHK Community Market is taking place from 9 a.m. to 1 pm at the American Legion.

* A Walk and Talk Family Fossil Hike is taking place from 10 am to noon at Tuttle Creek State Park. A registration link is available at TheMercury.com.

* A free summer bash will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at City Park, which will include inflatables, games, food trucks and more, hosted by New Hope Church.

Sunday events include:

* The Piccalilli Farm to Table dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $120 and a link with more information is available at TheMercury.com.

* DJ in the Park, featuring food trucks, ice cream and free swim passes for kids will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Park.

Memorial Day events include:

* American Legion Memorial Day program at Sunset Cemetery, featuring a live performance by the Manhattan Municipal Band at 9:30, followed by the ceremony at 10 a.m. The band will conduct a second performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Larry Norvell Band Shell at City Park.

* The Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley Memorial Day program at 10 a.m., featuring Lt. Colonel Christopher Coco and Samantha DeVoe from the Travis Manion Foundation. The cemetery is located at 5181 Wildcat Creek Road in Manhattan.

* Fort Riley’s Memorial Day observance is planned for 11:40 a.m. at the Post Cemetery, 193 Huebner Road. Col. Terry Tillis, 1st Infantry Division Deputy Commanding Officer will provide remarks. The ceremony is open to the public. Visitors without a Department of Defense ID can get a pass at the visitor control center.
