Miranda Lambert was already a multi-platinum country superstar by the time she turned 30 last fall. Still, celebrating the milestone birthday caused a shift in Miranda’s approach to just about everything, including the way she runs her growing business empire.
On top of her music career, Miranda also operates a boutique in Oklahoma, juggles several endorsement deals, runs a charity and has her own line of footwear. Now that she’s 30, Miranda feels confident enough to keep all those business ventures up and running at the same time.
“I want to be driving the ship, not just riding along,” Miranda says of her career. “When you’re in your 20s, you spend time trying to figure out what the ship’s even doing. Much less driving all the time.”
Leaving her 20s also prompted Miranda to get a handle on her diet and exercise habits and open up about her body image issues in the new song, “Bathroom Sink.” That track is featured on Miranda’s latest album, Platinum, which also contains songs addressing the media scrutiny surrounding her marriage to Blake Shelton.
Miranda says of Platinum, “It’s setting me up for this whole next part of a journey that I’m going to be on personally and professionally. So, with all the weight stuff, and with the sound of the album and what I addressed in the subjects of the album, it all has comes back to one thing, and that’s just where I am in life.”
Of course, there are plenty of fun moments on Platinum, including Miranda’s duet with Carrie Underwood on “Something Bad.” Look for them to perform that song on the CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock special Tuesday night on ABC.
Of note, Platinum was just certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies.
