The Manhattan Fire Department is investigating a Wednesday fire in the Colonial Gardens Mobile Home Park.

Firefighters were dispatched at 1:30 p.m. to a single-wide mobile home with smoke showing from multiple openings on the home. One dog was rescued by maintenance before firefighters arrived on scene and a second dog was rescued by fire crews, who contained the fire within 10 minutes.

According to the fire department, a responding Riley County police officer sustained a minor injury and was treated and released on scene by Riley County EMS.

All four occupants were not home at the time, but were displaced as a result. Loss is estimated at around $6,000. The cause remains under investigation.
