Smith has been arrested twice this year — once in April and once in January, on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery.
Original story 5 p.m. Tuesday
Riley County Police say one person was injured Tuesday following a shooting at an apartment in the 400 block of Yuma Street.
According to police, a call came in around 3 p.m. for a person with possible gunshot wounds. An initial investigation determined it was an isolated incident. The victim was transported to Ascension Via Christi in critical condition. The name of the victim has not been released.
Speaking to witnesses on scene, police developed a person of interest. Shortly after 4 p.m. RCPD announced they were attempting to locate 23-year-old Jamie Smith regarding the shooting. He was last seen near Walmart wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. Police say he is presumed to be armed.
Police are asking the public to not attempt to apprehend but rather to call 911 if they see Smith in the community.
