Riley County Police say the search continues for a Manhattan man wanted now for attempted first-degree murder.
Police are attempting to locate 23-year-old Jamie Smith, believed responsible in the shooting of a 38-year-old female victim at an apartment near Juliette Ave. and Yuma Street around 3 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was reportedly shot multiple times.
Smith was last seen in the area near Walmart Tuesday afternoon wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. He remains at large as of Wednesday morning.

Smith has been arrested twice this year — once in April and once in January, on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Riley County Police say one person was injured Tuesday following a shooting at an apartment in the 400 block of Yuma Street.

According to police, a call came in around 3 p.m. for a person with possible gunshot wounds. An initial investigation determined it was an isolated incident. The victim was transported to Ascension Via Christi in critical condition. The name of the victim has not been released.

Speaking to witnesses on scene, police developed a person of interest. Shortly after 4 p.m. RCPD announced they were attempting to locate 23-year-old Jamie Smith regarding the shooting. He was last seen near Walmart wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. Police say he is presumed to be armed.

Police are asking the public to not attempt to apprehend but rather to call 911 if they see Smith in the community.
