For the fourth year in a row, Fat Tuesday was celebrated by Pawnee Mental Health with pancakes.

“This is one of the events that we host every year that helps to cover the costs of really necessary mental health services and substance abuse treatment services for members of our community who don’t have the ability to pay for them,” she said.
Nearly 200 pre-orders were submitted ahead of Tuesday’s event. Volunteers from Pawnee and other organizations rushed orders out and in some cases even delivered meals. Early Edition co-owner Marcy Uphoff says they are happy to support Pawnee.
“We really think Pawnee provides a large variety of services for our community, so we like to do things that are going to stay with our local population,” she said.
Those who drove up or had pancakes delivered received a promotional cup from Anderson Knights Architects, which can be brought back to the restaurant anytime through next year’s Pancakes for Pawnee event, for a free coffee, tea or soft drink with a purchase.
Fundraising totals will be announced at a later date. The event typically raises several thousands of dollars for Pawnee Mental Health and its 10 county service area.
