Emergency crews responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Seth Child Road and Southwind Road on Friday. Officers on scene found that a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 29-year-old Timothy Kaucich, of Paxico, was in the process of turning west onto Southwind Road when it was involved in a collision with a southbound 2001 Chevy Cavalier, driven by 29-year-old Lauren Brandon, of Manhattan. As a result of this collision, both Kaucich and a passenger in his vehicle, 23-year-old Abigail Wagner, also of Paxico, were transported to Via Christi Hospital by Riley County EMS. At the time of this report, no citations had been issued and officers believe that car trouble was a contributing factor in this collision.
Police filed a report for the offense of aggravated robbery in the 400 block of S. 4th Street also on November 22. Officers listed Matthew Megaw, 64, of Manhattan, as the victim after a wallet, US currency, and glasses were taken or destroyed by an unknown suspect. Officers on scene were made aware of the incident that involved the suspect, who approached Megaw and struck him in the face prior to taking his wallet.
A report for the offenses of possession of stolen property, interference with law enforcement, contributing to a child’s misconduct, and possession of marijuana was filed in the 4500 block of Anderson Ave. in Manhattan on Wednesday November 23. Officers took three people into custody including Christian Jones, 18, of Topeka after responding to a single-vehicle collision involving a stolen vehicle from Topeka. Jones was given a bond of $15,000, while the other two younger teenagers were released to parents.
Lastly, police filed reports for sexual battery on November 23 for three incidents that occurred over the past month between a 25-year-old female victim and a 30-year-old male suspect known to her in the city limits of Manhattan.
