RCPD confirmed the loss of Correction Officer Kurtz on their Facebook page, Wednesday morning.
Riley County Police are mourning the loss of a correction officer.
Police and EMS crews responded to an emergent call for service in the 3300 block of Valleydale Drive in Northeastern Manhattan on Tuesday, for a report of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, officers found 29-year-old Lucas Kurtz deceased inside of his home.
Kurtz sustained an injury to his head and police do not suspect foul play to be a factor in his death.
