RCPD-Cruisers2-300x144Officers with the Riley County Police Department responded to a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Engineer Road and Harris Road on Oct. 2, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Police found a 2003 Ford Focus driven by a 16-year-old female (with an 18-year-old and 16-year-old passenger) that was involved in a collision when it lost control on gravel. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned landing on its roof leaving the driver to complain of back pain.

The passengers were uninjured, however, all three occupants were transported to Via Christi Hospital by Riley County EMS. The driver was issued a citation for driving at an unsafe speed based on conditions and the vehicle was towed due to damage.


 

Police in Riley County filed a report for burglary from a vehicle in the 800 block of N. 11th Street in Manhattan on Oct. 2 at noon. Officers on scene found that a vehicle was entered and a handgun belonging to Dustin Bayless, 23, of Manhattan, had been taken by an unknown subject(s) while the unsecured vehicle was parked in the area and left unattended.

The handgun is valued at approximately $250 and police ask anyone with information on this crime contact the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. By doing so, tipsters can remain anonymous and could qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.


 

Alina Green, 30, listed as homeless. was arrested on Oct. 3 at approximately 2:40 a.m. for the offense of battery of a law enforcement officer. She was given a bond of $1,000 and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail. Police made this arrest in the 400 block of S. 4th Street in Manhattan after an officer was kicked in the upper leg while investigating a crime.


 

Officers responded to a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Poyntz Ave. and Evergreen Ave. in Manhattan on Oct. 4 at approximately 2:55 a.m. Police found that a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by Cre Moore, 20, of Manhattan, had left the roadway and collided with a light pole and a privately owned stone stairwell.

The vehicle sustained major damage to the front driver’s side as well as the front driver’s side wheel which became detached as a result of the collision. Moore did not sustain any injury as a result of the collision and after an investigation into the accident he was arrested for the offense of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Throughout the course of the investigation Moore was found to also be in possession of several pills which were identified as depressants.

Moore was given a total bond of $3,500 for both offenses (DUI and possession of a depressant) and at the time of this report was no longer confined at the Riley County Jail.
