RCPD began investigating an aggravated battery that sent one to a medical care facility outside of Riley County, KS and made an arrest yesterday morning. This aggravated battery is domestic related and information available for release is limited. On November 11, 2015 at approximately 2:15 PM police found that a 59-year-old female had previously been struck in the face several times by a 52-year-old male suspect who is known to her. This battery caused significant injury to her head causing it to be classified as aggravated. Her current medical status is unknown at the time of this report. After further investigation into this matter police were able to identify and locate the suspect. On November 12, 2015 he was taken into custody. Stephen Thompson, 52, listed as homeless from Council Grove, Kansas was arrested while in the 800 block of N. 9th Street in Manhattan and given a bond of $15,000.00 for the offense of aggravated battery. He was confined at the time of this report.

Corey Worthington, 43, of Niangua, Missouri was arrested on November 12, 2015 at approximately 3:25 PM. Worthington was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear originating in Cloud County, Kansas. He was given a bond of $5,000.00 and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail.

A report for burglary was filed in the 700 block of Galaxy Drive in Manhattan on November 12, 2015 at approximately 4:55 PM. Police found that Designer Woodworking in Manhattan became the victim of this crime when approximately $1,000.00 worth of walnut hardwood and an acetylene tank valued at approximately $400.00 were removed from the property. The premise was unsecured at the time of this crime which is likely to have occurred between November 1, 2015 and November 12, 2015.

Police arrested Emmanuel Dani, 26, of Manhattan while in the 200 block of N. 9th Street on a warrant for the offense of failure to appear. This warrant carried a bond of $7,500.00 and had an original offense of theft of property. Dani was confined at the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Bomani Gordon, 21, of Manhattan on November 12, 2015 at approximately 6:10 PM. Gordon was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department on a warrant for probation violation with an original offense of residential burglary. He was given a bond of $5,000.00 and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail.

Police were alerted to a new scam that could be taking place in the area. This scam involves a faked vehicle vs. pedestrian or bicycle collision and was carried out by a subject who rolled her bicycle into a vehicle which was nearly stopped. After she rolled her bike to the vehicle she approached the driver along with two other men and demanded that the driver pay for damages stating that the driver collided with her (the two men also stated that they witnessed the driver strike the female while she was riding her bike). If you observe this scam or beleive that this scam has been committed against you and are currently being harrassed over the phone for payment, contact police and report the incident.
