The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

Officers filed a report for aggravated burglary and criminal damage to property in the 2000 block of Blue Hills Rd. in Manhattan on March 3, 2021, at approximately 6:24 a.m. Officers listed a 48-year-old female and a 49-year-old male as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect broke a door and went through their residence. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $750.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

Officers filed a report for theft and criminal damage to property in the 1000 block of Fremont St. in Manhattan on March 3, 2021, at approximately 2:36 p.m. Officers listed a 29-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect cut a bike lock and stole a black Trek FX2 bicycle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $620.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

Officers responded to the report of an injury accident in the 2200 block of Marlatt Ave. in Manhattan on March 3, 2021, at approximately 5:03 p.m. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2012 Yamaha moped driven by Kade McGinn, 20, of Manhattan had struck a 2018 JiaJue motorcycle driven by Michael Llewellyn, 21, of Manhattan and a 2016 Mazda MZ3 driven by David Bonner, 28, of Manhattan. McGinn was transported to Via Christi for treatment of head, shoulder and hand injuries.

Officers filed a report for aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, criminal threat, interference with LEO, driving while license is canceled/suspended/revoked, and criminal damage to property in Manhattan on March 3, 2021 at approximately 7:28 p.m. Officers listed 19-, and 27-year-old females and two 18-year-old males as the victims when it was reported a 28-year-old suspect injured the 27-year-old female, crashed his vehicle into the 19-year-old female’s 2008 Ford F-150, also occupied by the two 18-year-old male victims, then fled the scene. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $5,000.00. Brandon Lee Gibson, 28, of Junction City was arrested in connection on the offenses of aggravated domestic battery, three counts of aggravated battery, criminal threat, criminal damage to property, and interference with LEO. Gibson is confined in the Riley County Jail on a total bond of $50,000.00.
