The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 2100 block of Buckingham in Manhattan on August 10, 2020, at approximately 8:35 AM. Officers listed a 21-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect damaged the windshield on her vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 1200 block of Kearney in Manhattan on August 10, 2020, at approximately 12:34 PM. Officers listed a 26-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took his black, grey and neon green GT Mens Talera 4.0 Hybrid bicycle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $900.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Tuttle Creek Blvd and Ehlers Rd in Manhattan on August 10, 2020, at approximately 2:28 PM. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2011 Honda Civic driven by Connor Gabrielson, 19 of Manhattan struck a Ducati Motorcycle driven by Matthew Random, 29 of Manhattan. Random was transported to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries. Gabrielson was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way.
