The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Officers filed a report for aggravated assault, battery and criminal damage to property in the 3300 block of Woods Dr in Manhattan on August 5, 2020, at approximately 3:00 PM. Officers listed a 38-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 32-year-old male suspect threatened him with a hammer, pushed him and damaged his vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,000.00.

Officers filed a report for burglary from a motor vehicle in the 300 block of Poyntz Ave in Manhattan on August 5, 2020, at approximately 5:05 PM. Officers listed a 54-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took $300, a portable charging dock, eyeglasses, a checkbook, essential oils, a pocket knife, two Ozark Trail headlamps, and a fabric purse from her vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $723.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

Officers filed a report for aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, and flee or attempt to elude LEO in the 700 block of Kearney Ave in Manhattan on August 5, 2020, at approximately 8:11 PM. Officers listed a 46-year-old male, the State of Kansas, and the Riley County Police Department as the victims when it was reported a 38-year-old male struck him with a wooden board, damaged a police vehicle, and fled the area. The total estimated loss associated with this case is approximately $900.00. On August 5, 2020, at approximately 8:15 PM,  James Watkins, 38, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the charges of flee or attempt to elude LEO and criminal damage to property. Watkins was issued a total bond of $3,000.00. and is no longer confined at the time of this report.
