Hundreds of people gathered outside the Flint Hills Discovery Center to view the solar eclipse Monday afternoon.
Peak viewing occurred at 1:51 p.m. where 85% obscurity was observed.
Amateur astronomer Steve Johannes partnered with the Discovery Center to help citizens view the historic event.

The Discovery Center hosted an event beforehand, and glasses were donated by the Manhattan Public Library and other local organizations.
