Riley County has 20 new positive cases and 20 additional recoveries since Friday’s report.

Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is caring for two positive patients at this time. These patients have symptoms severe enough to require hospitalization.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 1,815, with 239 active cases and 1,568 recoveries.

The health department is partnering with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas National Guard to offer additional free testing events in Riley County on Thursday, Oct 1. The drive-up COVID-19 nasal swab test will be available at no cost, and no appointment is necessary to participate. The health department does ask that participants wear a mask and follow traffic signs at the testing locations. The Flint Hills Wellness Coalition will provide free food to participants.

The times for the free testing is 7:00 to 10:00 AM at City Park in Manhattan and then 5:00 to 7:00 PM at 401 W Chase St. in Leonardville.

Pottawatomie County saw an increase of 12 positive cases over the weekend. The total number of positive cases is 261, with 37 active and 224 recovered. The number of active cases went up by one over the weekend and recoveries by 11.
