Riley County commissioners approved the 2027 budget with a 2-1 vote Thursday following a public hearing. The budget includes a 6.7% increase in property taxes for the average single-family homeowner.
Commissioner John Ford voted against approving the 2027 county budget. Ford said in July he’d prefer to keep the budget flat. It totals $108.3 million, while special district funds total $6,907,309.
Riley County’s 2027 mill levy is 38.012 mills. That is a bump of 0.026 mills from the county’s 2026 final mill levy and 1.695 mills above the revenue-neutral rate.
