Riley County remains in the high incidence rate for COVID with over 100 new cases.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) recorded 123 new COVID-19 cases for Riley County between July 9 – 15. The Incidence Rate is 165.7, keeping the County in the HIGH incidence category with 100 or more cases per 100,000 people.

Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is caring for two COVID-19 positive patients at this time.

KDHE has recently been sampling the newest sub variants of Omicron. CDC data suggest that these variants spread more easily than previous Omicron lineages.

According to the health department’s update, these new sub variants are making up 87 percent of cases in the state.

The health department continues to offer vaccines and boosters Monday-Friday located at 2030 Tecumseh Road.
