Riley County now has its 11th COVID related death.
The patient passed away in his home in Manhattan at the age of 67. No further details will be released about the patient.
The county saw an increase of 16 active cases since Wednesday’s report for a total of 107.  The county is also reporting an increase of 14 recoveries for a total of 1,917.  The total number of positive cases is at 2,035, up 31 cases.
Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is caring for two positive patients at this time. The patients have symptoms severe enough to require hospitalization.
There are currently 10 active outbreaks in Riley County. No new outbreaks have been identified since the last report. Three outbreaks passed the 28 day period without a new case and have been declared expired: Homestead Assisted Living, Gamma Phi Beta, and Sigma Kappa. An outbreak is declared released or expired when 28 days have passed without a new positive case.
Pottawatomie County reported an increase of four active cases for a total of 36 since their last report.  They also reported seven additional recoveries for a total of 37.  Overall, the county has a total of 343 positive cases, an increase of 11.
The Pottawatomie County Justice Center will also be reopening for jury trials.  There will be one public entrance to the center. Those involved with a trial may enter the building through the west entrance to the County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone not involved in the jury trial as counsel, a witness, or a potential juror will not be allowed on the floor of the Justice Center where the courtrooms are located until the jury is empaneled and those not selected to serve have been excused and allowed to exit the building.
