Riley County treasurer Shilo Heger has told KMAN she will be seeking to retain her seat this November.

Heger took over for Eileen King, who retired during her term in June 2014. Before being voted in as King’s successor with 100 percent of the Riley County Republican Party precinct committee’s vote, Heger was King’s deputy in the treasuer’s office.

“This year and a half has given me a lot of experience and I just feel like I still have a lot to offer to Riley County,” Heger told KMAN. “Our office, I think, provides very good customer service and I want to continue that for the next four years.”

Heger touted her office’s accomplishments, including its ability to now handle interstate trucking transactions and its expansion of drivers license services for new residents from out of state.

“Being a transient community we have a lot of people from out of state coming in to register vehicles, and we can be a one-stop shop for them, as well,” she said.

Heger is originally from Soloman and graduated from Kansas State in 1993 with a degree in accounting.

She is married and has three children.
