A tragic accident occurred in Saint Marys, Kansas, on the night of January 31, 2025, when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a train. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the incident took place at approximately 8:52 p.m. in the 100 block of North 1st Street, about 200 feet north of U.S. Highway 24.

According to the crash report, 45-year-old Virginia Marie Enockson of Saint Marys was standing on the tracks facing southbound when she was struck by a westbound train. The train’s engineer, identified as Marios Dillard, and conductor, David Pinzon.
