A local convenience store chain is switching hands after being acquired by another company based out of Nebraska.

Lincoln-based U-Stop Convenience Shops recently completed the acquisition of 11 company-operated stores from Manhattan-based Shop Quik Convenience Stores, according to CStoreDecisions.com. Owners Greg and Pat Junghans have operated Shop Quik since 1981, eventually building their operation to 20 liquor and convenience stores, before consolidating to 11 stores, located in Manhattan, Ogden and Junction City.

U-Stop Convenience Shop began in 1959 as part of Whitehead Oil Co., which has grown to include 40 U-Stop convenience stores in Lincoln and Kansas.

American Business Brokers & Advisors provided merger and acquisition advisory services. The transaction was managed by Terry Monroe, president.
