ST. MARY’s, Kan. — Authorities in Pottawatomie County may be closer to solving a rash of identity theft incidents reported in the region last month.

St. Mary’s Police said in a Wednesday release that the U.S. Secret Service was investigating and had arrested several persons of interest in eastern Kansas in early August which solved a bulk of the cases county wide. The incidents involved the stealing and fraudulent use of customer credit card information.

No names have been released, nor has it been made public where the breach originated from. Hundreds of people were victimized in the Wamego area, according to police last month.
