Sales tax in Manhattan will rise .2 percent Saturday.

Manhattan voters passed the increase in the November election with 65 percent in favor. The increase will generate an extra $2 million for the city annually. Those funds will go to street repairs and the city’s Safe Routes to School program. The increase puts Manhattan’s sales tax at 8.95 percent and will sunset after 10 years.
