Manhattan City Commissioners Tuesday voted 4 to 1 to amend an Economic Development Agreement with housing development and management firm The Prime Company.

That’s Commissioner Usha Reddi.

The city in 2021 approved the agreement with The Prime Company, officially Elsey Holdings LLC, providing a 65 thousand dollar grant if it meets certain requirements – including hiring 13 full time employees and constructing a new HQ in Manhattan. With city approval, the amendment removed the requirement to build a new facility as they instead plan to renovate a building at 2101 Vanesta Place for that purpose.

The agreement still nets the city 50 thousand dollars in return, though Commissioner Wynn Butler was concerned the renovation plans would eliminate jobs at businesses currently housed at 2101 Vanesta.
