A teacher at Eisenhower Middle School was certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2018.

Julie Disbrow teaches 7th and 8th grade English and earned her certification in English Language Arts and Early Adolescence. Starting the process in 2014, she had to complete four extensive components in five years to be awarded certification.

“I chose to go through the NBCT process for a variety of reasons. I am naturally curious and enjoy looking for ways to create better lessons, improve my teaching, and engage students.”

Disbrow joins 3,900 teachers around the country who received national certification last year. USD 383 employs 25 other national board certified teachers as well.

“I learned so much throughout the whole process about myself, teaching, instruction, and students. I enjoyed the collaboration with other teachers, the analysis of student results, and the depth of the reflection throughout the whole process.”
