Adams broke the call volume down by each of the four stations in the county. The two stations with the highest call volume are located in Manhattan, with a combined call volume of 346 of the 501 calls.

Adams says the department is able to keep up with this volume in short bursts, but not if it becomes the norm.

Also during Monday’s commission meeting, an election canvas was held for the USD 383 school board primary election.

Over 4,700 eligible voters took part in this year’s primary election, with 48 provisional ballots. County Clerk Rich Vargo says election staff recommended 37 be counted as valid ballots.

The ballots that were considered invalid were not counted because the voters were either not registered or not in the USD 383 district.  Vargo says since the number of ballots is such a small volume, don’t anticipate them changing the results.

The commission approved the recommendation to accept the 37 provisional ballots as valid.
