MANHATTAN — Riley County Police have arrested a Manhattan man on numerous drug possession and distribution charges.

Andre Murphy, 39, was arrested Sunday morning in the 600 block of Highland Ridge Drive. Police have charged Murphy with one count of distributing marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, plant or cultivate a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon. Additional charges include no drug tax stamp, possession of a hallucinogenic drug and a pair of traffic infractions. Police say Murphy has one prior conviction of a drug possession.

Murphy’s bond was set at $20,000 but was not confined at the time of Monday morning’s arrest report.


In a separate incident Sunday, RCPD arrested a man who was charged with three counts including burglary.

According to the RCPD arrest report, 21-year-old Shane Stokes was charged with one count of aggravated burglary, one count of violating a protection order and one count of criminal damage to property. Stokes was arrested early Sunday morning in the 600 block of North 3rd Place. Earlier this month, Stokes also was arrested for criminal damage to property and attempted interference with a law enforcement officer.

Stokes was lodged in the Riley County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
