Six people were injured in a Geary County accident Wednesday involving a Kansas Department of Transportation truck. Taken to area hospitals were Barbara Johnson, 73, and Leander Johnson, 79, of Dorrance,  Jamie Bratcher, 30,  Ethan Bratcher, 9, and Gabe, 7,  and Maygen Bratcher, 4, all of Chapman.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the K-DOT truck driven by Robert Hayhurst, 52, of Junction City was in the left lane of I-70 westbound just west of highway 77 and slowing to make a u-turn through a divided cross over. All emergency lights were reportedly activated.
The 1999 chevrolet Tahoe driven by Barbara Johnson was behind the truck and started to slow down with the 2010 Honda Odyssey driven by Jamie Bratcher in the right lane behind heavy traffic. Bratcher saw the truck but not Johnson’s vehicle as she pulled into the left lane and rear-ended the Tahoe.
The accident was reported at noon Wednesday.
