Chilly weather didn’t stop people from gathering at the 4th annual Young Trustees Chili Cook-Off

KMAN caught up with Young Trustee Co-Chair Sarah Siders at the event. Siders spoke to the excitement of having the event at a new location, but with the same overall purpose.

Creator of the event Jamie Coones says, he thinks the event has great potential moving forward with the new and improved location at Rockin K’s.

Michael Peterson with Hy-Vee’s deli department’s team competed this year with his mother’s traditional recipe. He spoke to the event’s new location at the KSU Foundation Park.

Hyvee chose the T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter as their local non-profit to support the local furry friends.

Development Director at Manhattan Boys and Girls Club, Melissa Soldan says, their team chose to keep the 2019 winning recipe a secret this year with high hopes of wining again.

More than 40 nonprofit organizations received funds from Saturday’s event. Official donation totals are pending.
