Plea in Riley County rape case

A 27-year-old Manhattan man has entered a plea of no contest to two counts of rape. Gregory E. Hoyt entered the plea before Riley County District Court Chief Judge Meryl Wilson Monday afternoon. Commissioners briefed on latest crime stats

Riley County commissioners were updated on recent crime trends Monday morning. Riley County Police Department Capt. Josh Kyle told commissioners burglaries have decreased so far in 2016 after trending upward in November and December. “At the end of 2015 we did not have a good news to report as far as crime trends,” he said.

Preliminary waived in attempted murder case

A teen suspect in an attempted murder case waived his preliminary hearing Monday.
